Larvik. If you visit this picturesque port town in the very south of Norway, you’ll quickly notice something quite extraordinary: the streets, squares, and buildings come alive with poetry — quite literally.
Thanks to the efforts of literature enthusiasts from the association Poesiparken, Larvik has, over the past few years, transformed into a true city of poetry. Dozens of texts by both well-known and lesser-known Norwegian writers appear here in the form of sculptures, memorial plaques, murals, and artistic installations — on walls, façades, and at street level. And now, on the main square near the town hall, there is also a Poesiomat.
The Poesiomat in Larvik offers twenty recordings of poetry by Norwegian authors from different generations — both contemporary and historical. Its realization was made possible thanks to the wonderful Poesiparken Larvik association, and the Poesiomat was symbolically unveiled by David Červenka, the Czech Ambassador to Norway, together with Birgitte Gulla Løken, the Mayor of Larvik.
