A city in the heart of Slovácko. The birthplace of the first Czechoslovak president, T. G. Masaryk. The Poesiomat in Hodonín offers a diverse range of content, from poems and songs to local fairy tales. Listeners can look forward to poetry by Oldřich Mikulášek, Jiří Mahen, and a reflection on the Moravian anthem by Jan Skácel.
In addition to poetic themes, listeners can enjoy regional folk songs, poems by contemporary Hodonín authors presented by Petr Vaculovič, as well as music from the local metal band Like Fool and performances by renowned opera singer Boris Prýgl.
As a tribute to its most famous native, the Poesiomat features two unique pieces related to Masaryk. The first is a story written by Masaryk himself, set in Hodonín during his youth, and the second is an authentic recording of Masaryk's speech from 1928.
The Poesiomat’s program was created in collaboration with the Hodonín Municipal Library, the Masaryk Museum, the Hodonín Cultural Center, and the organizations Piána na ulici and Jsme Hodoňáci. The voices for the Poesiomat were provided by members of the Hodonín theater group DS Svatopluk and the well-known actress and Hodonín native Petra Hřebíčková.
The installation of the Poesiomat in Hodonín was the result of a 2023 participatory budget vote, based on a proposal by the Jsme Hodoňáci association.
