Domažlice. The heart of the legendary Chodsko region. A region with a rich history, vibrant folklore, and above all its own distinctive language.
The dramaturgy of the Poesiomat in Domažlice is dedicated primarily to the local musical tradition. Visitors can listen to songs by several local and regional ensembles: Konrády's bagpipe band, Haltravan, music by pupils of the Jindřich Jindřich School of Arts, the Postřekov Folk Ensemble, and others. Special attention will be given to the legacy of two great Domažlice musical figures: Antonín Konrády and Jindřich Jindřich, who were born in Domažlice 95 and 150 years ago respectively.
Beyond musical themes, the Poesiomat in Domažlice will also offer humorous folk storytelling — known as poudačky — performed by Josef Kuneš, texts on Domažlice folklore written by Karel Jaromír Erben and Božena Němcová, an account of the origins of the Chods by Zdeněk Šmíd, and a children's fairy tale by Jindřich Šimon Baar.
The voices of the Poesiomat were provided by actors Linda Finková and Vladimír Krebs. The Domažlice Poesiomat was created with the support of the City of Domažlice.
