Ctěnice

Just a stone’s throw from Prague’s Vinoř lies a picturesque chateau complex. After decades of socialist “care” in the form of gradual decay, it finally came into the ownership of the City of Prague. Following a successful restoration, it is now managed by the Prague City Museum — and has begun to flourish once again.

A unique chateau garden. An apple orchard. The horticulture of renowned botanist Ondřej Fous. A riding school with a long tradition, and above all, a remarkable chateau exhibition dedicated to traditional crafts.

The Poesiomat located by the children’s playground in Ctěnice is devoted to the musical legacy of Jan Antonín Losy the Younger of Losinthal, the famous Baroque composer and former owner of the Ctěnice estate. Listeners can also enjoy stories about the history of the chateau or songs performed by the Camerata Praha children’s choir from nearby Čakovice.

Beyond literary themes, visitors can listen to pomologist Kateřina Štrossová talking about varieties of Ctěnice apples, discover recipes for homemade apple products, or hear the reflections of well-known gardener Ondřej Fous.

The Poesiomat in Ctěnice was unveiled to the recitations of children from the Přezletice Kindergarten, who helped create the magical atmosphere of a sunny autumn morning.

The installation was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Prague City Museum, which manages the chateau complex. Voices for the Poesiomat were provided by actors Petr Jeništa and Iris Kristeková, Czech Television presenter Aneta Fraj, and voice actor and radio host Ivo Spisar.
