Karlovy Vary now has its own Poesiomat as well. It features twenty authentic recordings – offering, for example, a humorous story by Marek Eben, an interview with the recently deceased actor and president of KVIFF Jiří Bartoška, satirical verses by underground poet Milan Kozelka, or a tale about the legendary baron of Coney Island.
The modern barrel organ also recalls the influence of balneologist David Becher and German literary figure Johann Wolfgang Goethe on the spa town.
The talking statue features voices of actors and authors connected to the region. Among those speaking to listeners are presenter Aleš Háma and actors Tereza Švecová, Jiří Švec, Viktor Braunreiter, and František Špaček.
We placed the talking statue opposite the Elizabeth Spa. At the beginning of the 20th century, the city named the Art Nouveau building in honor of the nicknamed princess SISI, who did visit Karlovy Vary once, but did not live to see the opening of the new spa facility. Her rare visit was thwarted by an Italian anarchist who stabbed her with a file on her way to the Geneva harbor.
